The work consists of twenty-nine number series from 1 to 29 typewritten to form a regular diagonal pattern. It belongs to the artist's New York phase, from ‘66 to ’71, which is dedicated to non-verbal yet arithmetic language. She proposes serial variations on the figures, on the relationships that bind them together, on the order they can form, and on their relationship with time. In particular, around the 1970s, her research often re-proposes the topic of numerical series made by a machine, before moving on to manual writing. Therefore, her work could also be placed in dialogue with that of Sol LeWitt.
