Presentation of “CAMeC for everyone / for all” – Accessibility Room

Presentazione “CAMeC per tutti / for all” - Accessibility Room

October 12, 2024

A new inclusive exhibition space, located on the second floor of CAMeC – Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art of La Spezia. Designed to be free of perceptual and sensory barriers, it allows visitors with different sensitivities and mobility needs to independently access information and fully experience the Accessibility Room.

Specifically, blind or visually impaired visitors can navigate using a tactile path, read descriptions in braille, listen to audio narrations of the artworks, and explore accurate tactile reproductions. Meanwhile, deaf visitors can access videos with explanations in LIS (Italian Sign Language) and subtitled videos for a fully accessible experience.

The “CAMeC for Everyone” project was funded through a public call for proposals aimed at “Removing physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries, and archives to enable broader access and participation in culture,” financed by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU initiative and managed by the Ministry of Culture.
