Mappa/autoritratto: a children’s workshop inspired by Francesco Clemente

On Saturday 24 October, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, CAMeC is hosting a workshop for children aged 7 and over, inspired by the exhibition Francesco Clemente. Opere 1975–1980. Il primato del disegno.

Can you create a self-portrait without drawing your face? Perhaps by starting with a memory, a meaningful place, a symbol or an experience that says something about who you are.

This is the idea behind Mappa/autoritratto. Oltre il volto, una costellazione di tracce per raccontarsi, a workshop led by Claudia Rifaldi and inspired by Francesco Clemente’s artistic world, where images, cultures and symbols come together.

The workshop begins with a visit to the exhibition. Children will explore Clemente’s work, his nomadic outlook and his interest in both physical and inner landscapes, before experimenting with drawing as a way of telling their own stories.

Each participant will create a maze-like personal map: a self-portrait made up of signs, symbols and pathways, where every element can represent a memory, an encounter or a part of their identity.

The result will be a personal landscape to explore and interpret, offering a way to express who we are beyond our outward appearance, while leaving room for everything that makes us unique and constantly changing.
