Four sessions with calligrapher and artist Caterina Giannotti to explore the creation of a unique work of art
Between October and November, we are offering an artistic workshop for adults and young people aged 16 and over: a four-session journey to imagine, design and create an artist’s book.
A book that is a work of art
An artist’s book is not a simple illustrated volume, but an autonomous art form that combines words, images, signs and materials into an unrepeatable, deeply personal work. During the workshop, participants will be guided by calligrapher and artist Caterina Giannotti through each stage of the creative process.
The creative journey
The workshop will begin with paper colouring and the creation of textures and marks, using both traditional and unconventional tools. It will continue with the addition of words, collages and graphic compositions, leading up to the assembly of the pages. The experience will conclude with binding, bringing to life a unique book as a direct expression of each participant’s creativity.
Workshop calendar
The sessions will take place at CAMeC on Saturday afternoons, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm:
- 18 October – paper colouring and first marks
- 25 October – textures, composition and mark-making inspired by nature; insertion of letters, words or images
- 8 November – arrangement and composition of the pages that will form the book
- 22 November – final binding of the books
