As part of CAMeC Fridays, the artist engages in a conversation with art historian Mattia Lapperier to explore painting as process, gesture, and thought.
On Friday, June 6 at 7 PM, CAMeC will host a new event dedicated to contemporary art and to one of the key figures of the Italian art scene: Mirko Baricchi.
The evening, promoted by the non-profit association Amici del CAMeC, will feature the presentation of Ápeiron, the catalogue published for the artist’s latest solo exhibition by Galleria Cardelli & Fontana. Also featured will be L’urgenza del dipingere, a monograph with a critical essay by Alberto Mattia Martini, exploring Baricchi’s intense and evolving painting practice.
In conversation with Mattia Lapperier
Art historian Mattia Lapperier will join Baricchi in a conversation that will offer the public an in-depth view of the artist’s process: painting as physical action, dynamic thinking, and expressive gesture.
The artist’s path
Mirko Baricchi was born in La Spezia in 1970. After working in Mexico as an illustrator, he returned to Italy in the late 1990s to devote himself fully to painting. He now lives and works in Vicenza. His recent work is marked by a process-driven approach, characterized by rapid applications and removals of pigment and a strong sense of compositional freedom, where only minimal figurative elements remain.
