Presentation of the Exhibition Catalogue “Fotosintesi. Fotografie dalla collezione Carla Sozzani”

Thursday 26 February at 6.30 pm at CAMeC: a dialogue on photography and light

On Thursday 26 February at 6.30 pm at CAMeC – Centro d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea della Spezia, we will present the catalogue of the exhibition “Fotosintesi. Photographs from the Carla Sozzani Collection”, just a few weeks before its closing date on 22 March 2026. The volume will be introduced by Maddalena Scarzella, curator of the exhibition, in conversation with Silvia Mazzucchelli, author and photography scholar. Admission is free, subject to availability.

The catalogue as an in-depth exploration

The publication expands on and conveys the meaning of an exhibition bringing together around 150 works by 73 leading figures in international photography.

More than a documentary tool, the catalogue is an extension of the exhibition itself: a space for reflection that sets down on paper the themes, connections and perspectives opened up by the show.

A journey through the masters of photography

From the experiments of László Moholy-Nagy to the visionary portraits of David LaChapelle, from the botanical forms of Karl Blossfeldt to Alfred Stieglitz’s cloud studies, from the iconic nudes of Helmut Newton to the suspended atmospheres of Sarah Moon, the ethereal visions of Paolo Roversi and the ironic provocations of Man Ray, we have shaped an itinerary that invites visitors to reflect on light as a generative and vital energy.

Institutional greetings

The event will open with institutional greetings from the Mayor of La Spezia, Pierluigi Peracchini, the President of Fondazione Carispezia, Andrea Corradino, and the President of the Technical Committee, Giacomo Bei.

The exhibition “Fotosintesi. Photographs from the Carla Sozzani Collection” will be on view until 22 March 2026.
