Oltrevisione

In collaboration with the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Giacomo Puccini” della Spezia, CAMeC – Centro d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea presents, in the new Project Room on the ground floor, “Oltrevisione”, a project device selected within the PNRR – Progetto C.O.M. City Open Museum call. The Italian cultural heritage as a neo-media, interactive, participatory, and responsive public artwork.

The project stems from an articulated process of research and production carried out by the Conservatorio “G. Puccini” della Spezia, in collaboration with the association Spaziomusica of Cagliari (led by the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara).

Concept and overall organization are curated by Fabrizio Casti; scientific coordination by Alessandra Vaccarone; artistic coordination by Fabrizio Casti, Alberto Gatti, Mirjana Nardelli and Andrea Nicoli; technical coordination by Alberto Gatti.

The realization of the execution environment and audiovisual installations is entrusted to the Conservatory students Francesco Amato, Andrea Antonelli, Giorgio Avallone, Marco Barbieri, Marco Baroni, Raffaello Ciupi, Marco De Martino, Thomas De Santi, Federico Merani, Manuel Ragonesi and Erica Vincenti. For CAMeC, Eleonora Acerbi and Cristiana Maucci collaborated on the event.

From April 2 to April 30, the Project Room becomes a constantly evolving perceptual field: forms overlap, boundaries dissolve, presences shift. An environment that takes shape in the very act of being crossed, listened to, and observed.

The project develops from a selection of paintings from the permanent collections of CAMeC, reinterpreted within a multi-perceptual space. The works of Ugo Attardi, Silvio Pasotti, Cristiano Pintaldi and Maja Vukoje become the starting point for a translation of visual language into a multi-media dimension, with the aim of building an immersive, dynamic and vital experience capable of establishing a direct relationship with the audience.

“Oltrevisione” emerges from the encounter between the artistic field and scientific research, grounded in sensory exploration and in the possibility for artworks to transform without losing their identity. Rather than focusing on interpretation, the attention shifts to direct experience and perception as access to new imaginaries.

Sound and music play a central role in redefining the relationship with the artworks: they guide the gaze, reshape the atmosphere and suggest new interpretative keys. Through interactive installations, multimedia devices and dedicated sound paths, the project proposes a renewed relationship between audience and artwork, based on a physical and sensory engagement.

The three installations investigate the relationships between image, sound and technological systems, showing how digital devices can transform the aesthetic experience of artworks, making them dynamic, customizable and interactive. The visitor is no longer a simple observer, but becomes an active part of the process, contributing—through gestures and movements—to the construction of the visual and sonic experience.

Completing the project, a series of sound-based performative actions, both acoustic and electronic, distributed across different rooms of the museum, further expands the experiential field, offering new modes of encounter and participation.
