Friday 3 October, the first Friday of the month: as tradition goes, it’s CAMeC Friday. At 7 pm we are pleased to welcome Francesca Spiller – founder of Reading Room Milano – to discuss the role of independent publishing in today’s art world.
“Contemporary Periodical Publishing: Research, Community and New Imaginaries”
During the conversation with Francesca Spiller, we will explore the world of magazines as critical tools, evolving archives, curatorial practices and aesthetic devices able to shape shared imaginaries.
Magazines will be the true protagonists of the evening: guests will be able to browse through them during the event, discovering their ability to reflect the transformations of art, design, fashion and music, while also producing new communities and narratives.
CAMeC MAG: a growing project
The talk is part of CAMeC MAG, a project born from the collaboration between the Amici del CAMeC Association and Reading Room Milano, which has brought into the museum store a curated selection of independent art magazines in dialogue with the exhibitions on view.
Reading Room
Reading Room – our partner in the CAMeC MAG project, together with the Amici del CAMeC Association – is a highly specialised bookshop focused on art magazines.
In its 35 square meters in Milan, it hosts more than 250 international titles, selected across photography, art, fashion, design, music and many other fields. Its space is a hub for research and encounters, animated by talks, exhibitions and events in collaboration with Italian and international cultural institutions.

The talk, organised in collaboration with the Amici del CAMeC Association, will take place on Friday 3 October at 7 pm.
