Fotosintesi. Fotografie dalla Collezione Carla Sozzani

From October 18, 2025 to March 22, 2026, great photography on view at CAMeC – Centre of Modern and Contemporary Art of La Spezia

From October 18, 2025 to March 22, 2026, CAMeC will host “Fotosintesi. Fotografie dalla Collezione Carla Sozzani”, curated by Maddalena Scarzella in collaboration with Fondazione Sozzani. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire an extraordinary selection of more than one hundred photographs by international masters, from Helmut Newton to Sarah Moon, from Man Ray to Paolo Roversi, in a rich and engaging visual journey.

A moving selection

A unique and prestigious path through twentieth-century photography, in dialogue with our permanent collection, which includes works of the highest quality. This encounter enriches the reading of the works and offers the public new connections between international masters and the museum’s heritage.

Carla Sozzani: a visionary in visual culture

Carla Sozzani is a true pioneer of international visual culture. Through her work as a journalist, editor, publisher of magazines such as Elle and Vogue Italia, and as gallerist with 10 Corso Como and Fondazione Sozzani, she has profoundly influenced the way we look at and interpret images.

Antonio Grulli: “A prestigious exhibition”

Antonio Grulli, director of the partnership, sees this exhibition as an important new step for the museum:
“It is a great honor for me to inaugurate this prestigious exhibition. Carla Sozzani is one of the figures who has most shaped visual culture in recent decades at an international level, doing so much for photography and for photographers, not only by collecting but by actively engaging with artists and through her gallery.

I would like to sincerely thank the Associazione Amici del CAMeC, without whose managerial and intellectual support this exhibition would not have been possible”.
