Use of Cookies

When you visit any website, it may store or retrieve information on your browser, mostly in the form of cookies. This information might relate to you, your preferences, or your device and is mostly used to make the site function as you expect it to. The information typically does not directly identify you but can provide a more personalized web experience. Since we respect your right to protect your personal data, you can choose not to allow certain types of cookies. Click on “Cookie Settings” and on the headings of the different cookie categories to learn more and change the default settings. However, blocking some types of cookies may affect your browsing experience and the services we can offer.

The following information is provided to the user in compliance with the provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority dated May 8, 2014, “Identification of simplified methods for providing information and obtaining consent for the use of cookies.”

What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text strings that a website can send to your device (whether it’s a PC, notebook, smartphone, or tablet; they are generally stored directly on the browser you use for browsing). The same website that transmitted them can then read and record the cookies stored on that device to gather various types of information. What kind of information? Each type of cookie has a specific role.

How many types of cookies exist?

There are two basic macro-categories, with different characteristics: technical cookies and profiling cookies.

Technical cookies are generally necessary for the correct functioning of the website and to allow navigation; without them you may not be able to view pages correctly or use certain services. For example, a technical cookie is needed to keep you logged in throughout your visit to a website, or to store language settings, display settings, and so on.

The technical cookies used on this site can be further distinguished into:

  • Necessary cookies
These cookies are necessary for the operation of the website, with particular reference to normal navigation and enjoyment of the site, and cannot be deactivated in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions you take that constitute a request for services, such as setting privacy preferences, logging in or filling out forms. You can set your browser to block these cookies, but as a result some or all parts of the site will not work. These cookies do not store any personal information.

  • Analytical cookies
These cookies allow to count visits and traffic sources so that we can evaluate and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and to see how visitors navigate around the site. All information collected by cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not authorise these cookies, we will not be able to assess the collective browsing and behaviour of our users and improve the performance of the site accordingly.

  • Functionality cookies
These cookies enable the site to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation, which allows navigation based on a number of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services have been added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, some or all of these services may not function properly.

  • Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies have the task of profiling the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing.
These cookies may be used, including by third companies, to build a profile of your interests and show or send you relevant ads on this and other sites.

Cookies can also be classified as:

  • First-party cookies, which are cookies generated and managed directly by the operator of the website on which the user is browsing.

  • Third-party cookies, which are generated and managed by parties other than the operator of the website on which the user is browsing (by virtue, as a rule, of a contract between the website owner and the third party). Profiling cookies can only be set, via our site, by our advertising partners and are therefore third-party cookies. These cookies are based solely on the detection of your browser and your internet device. If you do not consent to these cookies, you will not be shown or sent these advertisements, nor will profiles of your interests be created. Refusal or withdrawal of consent to the use of one or more profiling cookies will not interfere with your ability to access or browse the Site.
