From 17 October, we present L’italico a pennino, a four-session course with Caterina Giannotti introducing the basics of italic handwriting for participants aged 16 and over.
Sessions will take place on 17 and 24 October and 7 and 14 November, from 3 to 5 pm. Working with nib and ink, we will focus on gesture, angle, pressure, proportions, joins and rhythm. The work will progress from individual letterforms to words and short texts. The course is suitable for complete beginners and no previous experience is required. The course is led by Caterina Giannotti, who works across historical and experimental calligraphy, founded SMED – Scrivere a mano nell’era digitale and is a board member of CIAC – Centro Internazionale Arti Calligrafiche.
