On Monday, 29 June, we are bringing contemporary art to the heart of Monterosso with a collective workshop open to everyone: children, families and adults, together with artist Marcela Gutierrez and art educator Claudia Rifaldi
The event will take place on 29 June, from 6.00 to 7.30 pm, in Piazza Garibaldi, Monterosso. A più mani is a collective art workshop organised in collaboration with Amici del CAMeC and the Cinque Terre National Park – Marine Protected Area. The workshop will offer an opportunity to approach contemporary art through a simple, direct and shared experience: painting together, observing the landscape, and transforming colours and emotions into a collective artwork.
What we will do during the workshop
Guided by artist Marcela Gutierrez and art educator Claudia Rifaldi, participants will work on a large collective canvas. Each person will be invited to contribute with marks, colours and shapes to the creation of an evolving landscape, inspired by the nature, light and atmospheres of the Cinque Terre. The workshop is designed for children, but is also open to adults: the artwork will come to life precisely through the meeting of different hands, perspectives and imaginations.
The artist residency at the Monastery of Soviore
The event is part of the artist residency that Marcela Gutierrez is carrying out with CAMeC at the Monastery of Soviore, in Monterosso. For four weeks, the artist lives and works in this place immersed in the landscape of the Cinque Terre, devoting time to observation, research and artistic production. With A più mani, part of this process leaves the studio and reaches the square, becoming a participatory workshop.
About Marcela Gutierrez
Marcela Gutierrez is a Guatemalan artist with an international background spanning painting, drawing, fashion and visual culture. Her research is characterised by an intense use of colour, a free and expressive line, and a strong focus on the body, nature and the images that emerge from observation. During the workshop in Monterosso, her vision will meet that of the participants to give shape to a collective landscape.
