Antonio Grulli appointed Director of the Partnership: we continue our path of growth

A significant and strategic step in the development of our museum: Antonio Grulli – art critic, curator and writer – has been appointed Director of the non-institutionalized public-private partnership for the enhancement of the cultural activities of CAMeC.

“Looking ahead, rooted in our history”

Upon receiving the appointment, the new director stated: “It is an honour for me to lead CAMeC, a museum with deep roots and a living history, where La Spezia has long served as a laboratory for the contemporary. It is from this DNA, from this natural vocation for dialogue and experimentation, that I want to start again.”

Who is Antonio Grulli

Born in La Spezia in 1979, Antonio Grulli is an art critic, curator and writer. He currently leads the Luci d’Artista project in Turin and curates the study programme at the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice. In 2024 he curated the Albanian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. He has worked with public and private institutions in Italy and abroad. He has already developed strong ties with his hometown, including the FBI exhibition space in the studio of artist Jacopo Benassi. He regularly writes on art for the culture section of La Stampa.

A decisive moment for CAMeC

Less than a year after our reopening – marked by the reinstallation of the permanent collection curated by Gerhard Wolf and the opening of the exhibition Morandi Fontana. Invisibile e Infinito – we are entering a new and crucial phase in the museum’s transformation.
The appointment of Antonio Grulli is more than a new chapter: it is a clear confirmation of the direction we have taken — toward a broader, more ambitious and deeply shared vision for CAMeC’s future.
